It is from a series of alternative portraits exploring emotion through hands. The hands say a lot about a person's emotional state and inner thoughts, often moreso than a facial expression. This piece is open to interpretation and the exact feeling is ambiguous, nonetheless it evokes a feeling of empathy and understanding in the viewer.
